When the Guardians of the Galaxy took on a job to defeat the Abilisk, Baby Groot began attacking some of the Orlonis. He thought they were looking at him funny.
Rocket Raccoon: They were not looking at you funny.

Trying to assist Rocket and Yondu Udonta escape from The Ravagers prison cell, Baby Groot was asked to go find Undonta’s Yaka Arrow to help them all escape.Misunderstanding Undonta’s instructions, Groot put the Ravager symbol on his head thinking that he had been asked to wear it as a hat. Grood then let Rocket know why he dosn’t like hats.
Rocket Raccoon: One minute you think someone has a weird shaped head, the next minute you realize part of that head is a hat. That’s why you don’t like hats?
Which button is the button you’re supposed to push?
Rocket explains to baby groot how to activate a bomb designed to destroy Ego’s core. He asks Groot to repeat back to him the instructions. Groot points to the button Rocket asked him not to press.
Rocket Raccoon: No! That’s exactly what you just said! How’s that even possible? Which button is the button you’re supposed to push? Point to it. No!
Yeah, he did call you twig
At Yondu’s funeral, the Guardians gathered around Yondu’s body while Quill gives an eulogy. Groot remarks on how Yondu nicknamed him “twig”Groot: I am Groot
Rocket Raccoon: Yeah, he did call you twig.
You gotta clean up your room
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 post credits scene: Teenager Groot is wasting time playing computer games. When Quill asked him to tidy his room, Groot accuses him of being boring.
Groot: I am Groot.
Peter Quill: I am not boring, you’re boring. You know what’s boring? Sitting there playing that mind-numbing game. What’s boring is me tripping over your vines everyday. I’m not boring.
Groot: I am Groot.
Peter Quill: And now I know how Yondu felt.
